Walmart Humiliated Me Over Return
Roughly a week ago, my mother was in my area (she lives an hour away from my house) and she dropped by the Walmart located at 4700 East Palm Valley Boulevard, Round Rock, TX 78665 to grab a few items for me before she came to see me. These items were 2 bottles of Pantene Shampoo, 2 bottles of Pantene Conditioner and 2 boxes of Loreal Hair Color. As it turned out, she had grabbed the wrong kind of shampoo and conditioner as well as the wrong color of hair dye. She had left my house and was already out of town by the time I realized this. I called her and asked if she had the receipt and she said she didn't think it would be needed and that she had already thrown it out. I wasn't too worried about it, though, since Walmart allows returns without receipts that follow the return policy.
Believing that I wouldn't face any problems taking these items back and figuring I would simply be issued a store credit for my return, I took the items back to that same store. The customer service cashier was fine with the transaction at first but when she finished ringing up my items, the computer gave a message that it required a manager's approval. When the manager came over, she proceeded to tell me that they will not issue a refund for my items without the receipt because I "might have purchased the products using coupons"! I tried to understand what on earth they meant by that and finally realized they were insinuating that I was committing some sort of fraud! I was so humiliated and felt so small when I had to take my items back and leave the store without the refund.
I issued a post on my social media account asking some friends for advice on what to do and it was suggested that I should take the items to another Walmart store for the refund since the Walmart return policy mentions you don't have to return items to the store they were purchased at. So, tonight I drove to the next closest Walmart at 3701 N. Main St. Taylor, TX 76574 with the intention of returning these items as well as making a purchase of Valentine's cards for my daughter's Valentine's party at school tomorrow. I first went to the customer service desk to make the return. I began pulling the items out of the bag for the man to begin ringing up and I told him the reason for the return and that I did not have the receipt. As soon as I said I didn't have a receipt, he cut me off and told me that they will NOT issue refunds or store credits of any kind for these types of products without a receipt. Once again I was rejected and embarrassed. I didn't even stay to argue and just grabbed my items and took them back to my vehicle, then went back in to the store to make the purchase I needed to.
